March for Life Statement on Planned Parenthood’s Election Reaction

Posted on November 18, 2016 by Bethany Goodman

Jeanne Mancini’s statement on Planned Parenthood’s reaction to election results —

“Abortion proponents are working passionately to assure that taxpayers will continue to pay for abortion via the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.  They are clearly not understanding or listening to the American people who have a consensus on life issues.

Planned Parenthood annually performs over 320,000 abortions a year subsidized by taxpayers. The non-profit spent $30 million to help abortion advocates run for office.  They did not win a race. The American people rejected the radical, abortion until birth position, as they have consistently done.  Eight of our ten Americans agree that abortion should be limited – at most – to the first three months of pregnancy. The American people also overwhelmingly reject taxpayer funding of abortion.”

To Love And Be Loved

Posted on November 15, 2016 by Bethany Goodman

“One woman made a selfless choice. So that I can be love and be loved.”

This quote from Ryan Bomberger beautifully sums up the 2017 March for Life theme, “the power of one.” One decision and one person can impact the world.

Without the brave decision to choose life in a painful and difficult situation, the world would not be blessed to know Ryan, and his children.

Ryan’s mother chose life and she chose adoption. As we celebrate National Adoption Awareness Month, let’s take a look at some of the myths about adoption.

3 things for you to do…

Posted on November 10, 2016 by dbrindle

Dear Bethany,

One message was loud and clear on Tuesday. Radical abortion advocacy lost.

We applaud candidates that took a strong pro-life stand on the most critical human rights issue of today, abortion. America has a pro-life consensus and the time to act is upon us!

Here at the March for Life, we look forward to working with our pro-life Congress to fulfill President-elect Trump’s campaign promises to ensure pro-life Supreme Court justices, pro-life public policies, and to defund America’s primary abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.

But we can’t achieve pro-life victories in Congress or in our culture without you.
Here are 3 things that you can do right now:

1. Sign up for the 2017 March for Life.

  • Add your name HERE and invite your friends and family! This January will be more critical than ever to have our pro-life voices heard as a new President and Congress takes office. You can also RSVP to our Facebook event.

2. Invest in the work of the March for Life.

  • We have already begun strategizing with leaders on Capitol Hill on pro-life policy priorities. Your financial support will enable our experienced staff to take the lead in ensuring long-awaited pro-life victories like codifying the Hyde Amendment and defunding Planned Parenthood. Click HERE to donate.

3. Most importantly, get out and volunteer in your community.

  • Find your local pregnancy resource center HERE and start volunteering. Download the March for Life eBook to learn about other ways to influence your neighborhood HERE. Vote Pro-Life!

Posted on November 7, 2016 by Bethany Goodman

Tuesday is the big day – Election Day 2016.

As you head to the polls tomorrow, we urge you to consider all that’s at stake and vote pro-life.

It’s time to stand up to the pro-abortion lobby. It’s time to say “no” to abortion extremism.

Did you know, that 8 in 10 Americans agree that abortion should have real legal limits?  Furthermore, almost two-thirds of Americans oppose tax dollars paying for abortion.

What About Equal Rights for Unborn Women?

Posted on October 26, 2016 by Jeanne Mancini

Yesterday as I was leaving work, a young, African-American man stopped me and asked if I was “for” women’s rights. I can assume that if I said yes he would have asked me to sign a petition he was advocating.  Because I was in a hurry, I typically would have continued on my way without engaging him. However, because I have heard the term “women’s rights” at least five times in the course of the past week, and frankly, my patience is waning in the face of the onslaught of false rhetoric surrounding this election cycle, I couldn’t help but stop and chat.

I asked him, “What exactly are you referring to when you say “women’s rights”; what “rights” are we talking about?” He answered, ironically, given that I am a woman and he is not, “reproductive rights.” Saddened and burdened by this response, I asked him “what about equal rights for unborn women?” He obviously had not given that any thought because he didn’t know how to respond. After about twenty seconds he asked me, “is this a trick question?” I told him no and that I hoped he would really think about the point I had made.

mfl2016_meme_12232015If I had the chance to speak with this gentleman again I would have gently added that pushing reproductive rights is on the wrong side of history.  Humans should not be discriminated against because of their size, sex, color, race, disability, etc.

I love everything related to the inherent dignity and vocation of women. I’m grateful for my educational opportunities, the right to vote, my career opportunities the fact that I am able to lead a non-profit organization, a stark contrast from what the vast majority of women throughout history, and even living today have enjoyed. Furthermore, I’m grateful that I am 100% equal in dignity to my husband.

But I am tired of the damaging and erroneous idea that abortion is a positive thing for women. I have met so many women that profoundly grieve having been involved in an abortion. I’ve talked to a dad who lost his daughter to legal abortion. There is study after study showing the negative consequences of abortion – be it emotionally or physically.

Because of the cause of “reproductive rights,” approximately 30 million females are missing in the United States today – future Olympic athletes, scientists, doctors, artists, teachers, sisters, mothers, daughters, lawmakers, and maybe even a President. Women deserve the truth about this issue. Abortion is profoundly anti-woman. Choosing life is empowering, not taking the life of your precious little one.

Choosing Life and Defying Late-Term Abortion

Posted on October 24, 2016 by Bethany Goodman

“You just hit the jackpot.”

These were the encouraging words spoken to Oakley and Scott Peterson, shortly after their son Welles was born with Down Syndrome. The diagnosis was a surprise to the family, but they were immediately encouraged by friends who also had children with Down Syndrome that despite challenges, Welles would forever change their world for the better.

>>>> WATCH a brief video about their touching and beautiful story here.

ABC Breaking News | Latest News Videos

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and while much progress has been made in bringing awareness to the challenges and blessings of Down Syndrome, there is still much work ahead.

Just this week, a discussion about late-term abortion  in the final presidential debate led to many media outlets publishing related stories.  But unfortunately at least a dozen journalists published articles dismissing the idea that late-term abortions happen, or calling them “rare.”

The truth is that  while most abortions do occur in the first trimester, late term abortions are not rare.  The Guttmacher Institute (originally founded as the research arm of Planned Parenthood) reports that 1.3% of abortions every year are performed after 21 weeks, which is about 13,780 a year, hardly rare. Several stories this week  are about women who chose late-term abortion after a poor prenatal diagnosis. While some acknowledged it as a heart-wrenching decision, others didn’t seem to think twice.

However, there is another option. Many women and families who have faced an adverse prenatal diagnosis have chosen life. And research even shows that it is psychologically easier on women to carry babies who have received a difficult (even fatal) diagnosis to term rather than choose the path of abortion.

Not all the stories have ended the same; in fact, many times the diagnosis is wrong! But the common thread is one of love and life that goes far beyond and touches many lives.

Below are some of the stories our Facebook followers shared with us. Furthermore, at the 2015 March for Life, with our theme of Every Life is a Gift, we shared many more stories and resources. If you or someone you know is facing an adverse prenatal diagnosis, please check out the resources we have compiled HERE.

14800223_10101619824890152_2034312535_oMy doctors suggested I abort my son & “try again” simply because of inconclusive test results and a concerning 20-week scan. They announced he had a high likelihood of Down syndrome, were concerned about his heart, his spine, and the possibility of spina bifida. The words I could muster in my shock were “that is not even a part of our thought process. Please tell me what you can do to help my son. Will any other follow-up help to determine what medical care he needs?” I refused an amnio, there was no reason to risk his health and life over quelling (or confirming fears). A follow-up blood test and cardiac ultrasound showed all was well. I’m thankful to say my son was born without a single one of the problems they alleged he “very likely” had! He’s a beautiful, smart, healthy, thriving 16 mo old now. BUT I can say with conviction that it wouldn’t have matter what medical problems he had; I would love him with every ounce of my being and never would’ve considered for a moment killing him to appease this ridiculous notion that somehow taking your own child’s life barbarically spares anyone pain. That’s the ultimate twisting of facts and lie. Always and above all else, every life matters from the moment that little baby is created and across our life spans!

Liz

My water broke at 21 weeks. There was a very high risk of infection for me and the baby. You may classify this as a “Health/life of the mother” reason to consider abortion. After I was checked into the hospital before the doctor left my room he asked, “I think I know the answer, but just to make sure, you don’t want to deliver that baby now do you?” I was surprised that it was even a question, and of course said no. I was put on IV antibiotics and was on hospitalized bed rest for 6 weeks. Our baby was born via c-section at 27 weeks gestation. After an 111 day stay in the NICU, a lot of time back at the hospital and doctors office, I’m pleased to say our little boy is almost two years old. He is doing remarkably well considering all he’s been through.

14804813_1416191445075974_1557915548_nI was told at 20 weeks that something was abnormal and rescheduled for another scan at 22 weeks which is when I was told my second son presented as having a neural tube defect, the specialist declared his condition was ‘incompatible with life’. I was urged to terminate and promptly rather aggressively declined, along with further testing that was invasive and could have induced preterm birth. It wouldn’t have mattered anyway if he indeed had what they claimed nothing could be done anyway. I opted for a prepared O.R. with an incubator and extra nurse for my planned c-section. On September 16th, 2010 my beautiful, perfect, COMPLETELY HEALTHY son was born! Doctors are not always right and it wouldn’t have mattered either way, my son was and is loved and deserved a chance at life. My first son, whose testing all came back perfect was a hellish pregnancy and he is Autistic, boy did the doctors get everything wrong with my kids! My boys are blessings and I can’t say it enough, thank God I didn’t listen and followed my own convictions!

Victoria

At 16 weeks I was told there was something wrong with my baby, and if I wanted to ‘do something about it’ I had better hurry. In my shock, I questioned what I could do, and it didn’t occur to me until I was driving home what my Dr meant. I wonder how many of his other moms were like me, confused about what they could do, but scared enough to say ‘ok let’s do something then’. My son was born 16 weeks premature, was in the NICU for the first 3 months. of his life, and unfortunately does have a physical disability. BUT he is now 11 years old, on the A/B honor roll, in GT classes, and is the absolute love of my life. If I could only see that Dr now, show him what a blessing my son is, maybe he would change how fast he offers termination to his other moms…
