Jeanne Mancini Op-Ed: Eight out of ten Americans surveyed support abortion limits

Posted on October 24, 2016 by Bethany Goodman

Read Jeanne Mancini’s op-ed in the Hill on America’s pro-life consensus –>> Eight out of ten Americans surveyed support abortion limits.

As recently as July, a Knights of Columbus/ Marist surveyed 1,009 people and the poll revealed that merely eight out of ten Americans believe abortion should be limited at most to the first three months of pregnancy. When polling those who self-identify as “pro-choice”, a combined 62 percent would limit abortion to the first trimester (39 percent), to cases involving rape, incest or for the life of the mother (19 percent, with 2 percent weighing in only for the life of the mother), or would ban abortion altogether (4 percent). But sadly, this is not reflective of the U.S. Law.

Jeanne Mancini Op-Ed: The Business of “Reproductive” Control

Posted on October 18, 2016 by Bethany Goodman

March for Life President Jeanne Mancini’s op-ed in Townhall, “The Business of Reproductive Control”

Last weekend marked the 100th anniversary of the founding of America’s primary abortion provider, Planned Parenthood. A non-profit, 501c3 charity, the organization’s CEO, Cecile Richards, is paid nearly $1 million a year! Not your typical non-profit salary, Planned Parenthood isn’t your average do-good organization. Founded by eugenicist Margaret Sanger in 1921 as the American Birth Control League, Planned Parenthood was renamed in 1942 and has become a sophisticated business with an annual budget of well over $1 billion.

100 Days: Why the March for Life Matters

Posted on October 18, 2016 by Bethany Goodman

100-days

In 100 days, tens of thousands of pro-life Americans will descend upon our Nation’s Capital for the March for Life. The March for Life is the largest annual peaceful, human rights protest in the world, and it happens every January in Washington D.C. on the anniversary of legalized abortion on demand in the United States.

>>>> Click HERE to RSVP for the 2017 March for Life on Friday, January 27, 2017.

In 1973, the nine justices of the U.S. Supreme Court overturned dozens of state abortion laws by handing down two of the most egregious court decisions in American history – Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. Since then, over 57 million lives have been lost to abortion, and millions of women harmed and wounded.

The March for Life needs you to be a voice for the voiceless! Every voice counts, and collectively we make a much more powerful difference as the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The bigger the crowd at the March, the more forceful a symbolic statement is made, and message sent, to the White House, Capitol Hill, the media, and the entire culture.

This year, the March for Life will be held exactly one week after the 2017 Presidential nomination, and we plan to send a powerful message to our new president about the importance of respecting and protecting the inherent dignity of the human person from conception!

>>>> Watch March for Life President Jeanne Mancini on the importance of the March for Life.

The March for Life is open to people of all ages, all backgrounds, and all socio-economic statuses. It is the premier pro-life event of the year.  Whether it’s because of moral convictions, religious beliefs, or scientific facts, the March for Life is the place to be. We unite to shine a light on truth, and to help women, men and families continue to advocate for life.

>>>> Watch March for Life supporter Alison Howard on why the March for Life matters.

Our vision is a world where every human life is valued and protected and our hope for the future is that one day we won’t have to march for life because abortion is not only illegal, but it’s unthinkable.

Alison says it eloquently:

“My hope for the future is that our future kids can look back and know that we stood up for life when it mattered most. That we went to Washington D.C. in the middle of January; every year we had to, to make sure that their friends were not terminated. To make sure that they had the chance, like we do, to speak up for ourselves, and advocate for life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness. Part of that, for me, is speaking up for those who can’t speak for themselves. And so that’s why the March for Life and all the pro-life movement has continued to work really hard to make sure others have that chance to speak up for themselves and live the life that God’s given them.”

If you have attended the March for Life for many years, or you’ve always felt convicted to go, we hope you’ll join us next year, on Friday, January 27, 2017 for the March for Life. Together, our voices are stronger.

The Enormous Loss of Life During This Time is Cause for Grief Not Celebration

WASHINGTON DC— This weekend, Planned Parenthood will commemorate its 100th  anniversary dating back to the 1916 opening of Margaret Sanger’s first clinic in New York City. Originally known as the American Birth Control League, renamed Planned Parenthood in 1942, the organization has evolved into a billion dollar business, and is the single largest provider of abortions in the United States.

“The 100th anniversary of our nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, is a somber reminder of the work we have ahead of us in building a culture of life. Since 1973, over 57 million Americans have been lost to abortion, with many mothers suffering regret after making such a choice. Planned Parenthood has been the primary means for this tremendous loss in our country.

While some will celebrate on Sunday, we instead grieve the fact that approximately one sixth of our nation is not with us today because of the very work of Planned Parenthood. We will also use this anniversary to redouble our educational efforts to show the attractive and empowering truth that being pro-life is pro-woman, and, unlike Margaret Sanger, we know that each person- regardless of race, special needs, or “being planned”- has inherent dignity from the moment of conception.” said Jeanne Mancini, President of March for Life Education and Defense Fund.

The March for Life in Washington, D.C. began as a small demonstration on January 22, 1974, the first anniversary of the now-infamous Supreme Court decisions in Roe v Wade and Doe v Bolton and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world.  The peaceful demonstration that has followed on this somber anniversary every year since is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, legalized abortion on demand.

Jeanne Monahan-Mancini, President of March for Life Education and Defense Fund, is available for interviews. For more information or to schedule an interview, please contact Catherine Bradley at cbradley@sbpublicaffairs.com or (703) 739-5920.

March for Life Statement on Planned Parenthood Lawsuit

Posted on October 12, 2016 by Bethany Goodman

“As we approach the 100th anniversary of our nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, this Sunday, their dark scandal involving the trafficking of little hearts, lungs and livers for profit will be haunting the group as longtime business partner- DaVinci Bio – is now being prosecuted for these crimes. May justice be served, and may the inner workings of Planned Parenthood continue to come into the light so that one day soon Americans no longer have to be complicit in funding our nation’s primary abortion organization and its’ sinister work.”  – Jeanne Mancini, March for Life President

Planned Parenthood: 100 Years of Abuse & Deception

Posted on October 3, 2016 by Bethany Goodman

This month, Planned Parenthood is “celebrating” it’s 100th birthday, dating back to the eugenicist Margaret Sanger opening her first clinic in New York City in 1916.

In reality, this birthday should be anything but a celebration. Planned Parenthood, and abortion advocates have been doing a real disservice to women and babies for decades.

In the name of “women’s health” the organization works desperately to soften the truth that abortion takes the life of a baby and hurts mothers. But even the best public relations campaigns cannot change reality.

>>>> Check out these resources on all of Planned Parenthood’s deceptions:

  • Alliance Defending Freedom: “Planned Parenthood: The Whole Story”
  • National Right to Life: “Saddest Birthday Ever”
  • Americans United for Life: “Planned Parenthood Turns 100”
  • Students for Life: “Women Betrayed”

Watch Tricia tell her story about the culture’s message about abortion. Tricia deeply regrets the two abortions she had as a young woman, and now works as a pro-life advocate.

I was a product of the culture and I believed everything that the culture was teaching me, which was basically: ‘It’s you first. If it doesn’t fit your agenda, then get rid of it.’

It’s really a matter of feeding women the continued lie that life isn’t valuable, it doesn’t matter. The only valuable life that exists is the one that is walking and talking right now. And if it’s not walking, talking and breathing, if it doesn’t have a career, then it’s of no value.

Since 1973 alone, over 57 million abortions – a sixth of our current population in the United States – has been wiped out by abortion, and millions of women are wounded and scarred by the pain of having made such a choice.

Building a culture of life is an effort that requires each and every one of us. Where do we start? As Tricia shares, “we must elevate all life.”

As a pro-lifer, I value all life. I value babies, toddlers, elderly, as well as those in the womb. The difference as a pro-lifer is that the person in the womb can’t speak, they can’t defend themselves.

Please join us this month (and every day of the year) in spreading the truth about life!

Representative Diane Black (R-TN) Hosts Key Leaders on “The Power of One”

Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, September 29, the March for Life Education and Defense Fund will hold a Capitol Hill briefing to announce the 2017 theme for the March for Life, “The Power of One.” The briefing, hosted in conjunction with Representative Diane Black (R-TN), will be held at noon in the Rayburn Banquet Hall (B-338).

Friday, September 30, 2016, marks the 40-year anniversary of the passage of the Hyde Amendment, arguably the most impactful pro-life legislation enacted since abortion was legalized in the U.S. Thursday’s briefing will feature an overview of the importance of the long-standing policy, as well as the history of the man behind it.

Named for Congressman Henry Hyde of Illinois, the Hyde Amendment originally passed in 1976, and is annually included in the appropriations bill for the U.S. Departments of Labor and Health and Human Services. The amendment prohibits the use of taxpayer funds for abortion for Medicaid recipients, thereby reducing the incidence of abortion by a staggering 20-35 percent every year. The latest Democratic Party platform calls for the Amendment to be abolished.

“The Hyde Amendment is a critical, long-standing policy that has not only been upheld by bipartisan support, but is also supported by a large majority of Americans,” said Jeanne Mancini, President of the March for Life Education and Defense Fund. “Despite this, in recent days, emboldened pro-abortion advocates and politicians including the democratic presidential candidate, have called for an end to the Hyde Amendment.”

HOST:             Rep. Diane Black (R-TN)

EVENT:           The Power of One: The Importance of Preserving the Hyde Amendment

DATE:             Thursday, September 29, 2016

TIME:              12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

LOCATION:    Rayburn House Office Building- Rayburn Banquet Hall, B-338

SPEAKERS:   Jeanne Mancini, president of the March for Life Education and Defense Fund; Genevieve Plaster with the Charlotte Lozier Institute, and Dr. Michael New, Visiting Associate Professor, Ave Maria University

Underscoring the importance of the Hyde Amendment and the popular support pro-life policies have with the American public, March for Life Action released an ad campaign last week in targeted swing states. The ad features five women explaining that 8 in 10 Americans believe that abortion should have real, legal limits. The ad also notes, almost 2/3rds of Americans oppose tax dollars paying for abortion- an important piece of the Hyde Amendment. The ad can be viewed by continuing here.

Lunch will be served at the briefing. To register for the event, please continue here. Additional information is available at marchforlife.org/hyde-briefing.

MARCH FOR LIFE ACTION LAUNCHES 2016 AD CAMPAIGN REVEALING PRO-LIFE POSITION IS NATIONAL CONSENSUS

Candidates Promising to Expand Abortion are Out-of-Touch with American Voters

WASHINGTON, DC – On Thursday, March for Life Action will launch a major public awareness campaign highlighting the overwhelming pro-life consensus most Americans share on the issue of abortion. The campaign will be supported by a new ad, “Consensus,” which is the first of its kind for March for Life Action and highlights the reality that pro-life policies are reflective of mainstream America, and are winning positions for candidates running for office.

Based on a 2016 Knights of Columbus Marist Poll that surveyed Americans on their beliefs about abortion, the ad reveals that the extreme position of abortion-on-demand up until birth held by the abortion advocates and many pro-choice politicians, is out of touch with the American public.

The first phase of the campaign will run Thursday through Monday, leading into the Presidential debate, and will include digital and television outreach. Targeting Columbus, OH; Dayton, OH; Pittsburgh, PA; Scranton, PA; Richmond, VA and the District of Columbia, the ad will run during major network programs including: Madame Secretary, Today Show, CBS This Morning, 60 Minutes and other significant programs. A partial transcript is as follows:

Woman 1: Now they want us to pay for abortion.

Woman 2: OUR tax dollars.

Woman 3: Almost 2/3rds of us say NO.

Woman 4: No way.

Woman 5: It’s time for this extremism to end.

“With this ad, we encourage Americans to take a deeper look at their candidates. Politicians who claim to be ‘pro-choice,’ essentially advocate for abortion-on-demand up until the time of birth, paid for by your taxpayer dollars.  This radical position is out of touch with the large majority of Americans,” said Jeanne Mancini, President of March for Life. “With an overwhelming majority of Americans in favor of substantial restrictions on abortion, it’s time for politicians to change the fact that current U.S. law does not reflect the hearts and minds of its own people regarding life.”

Without using actors, the ad features six women from different political and professional backgrounds.  “As we state in the ad, it’s time for OUR voices to be heard and the extremism on this issue to end,” said Mancini.

To view the ad, please follow this link. The full transcript of the ad is below.  The ad is embargoed until Thursday, Sept. 22, at 6:00 am. EST.  Visit www.marchforlifeaction.org for more information on the campaign.

To schedule an interview, please contact Brendan Bradley with Shirley & Banister Public Affairs

at (703) 739-5920 or bbradley@sbpublicaffairs.com.

Woman 4: Abortion should have real legal limits.

Woman 3: Real legal limits.

Woman 1: Even 6 out of 10 pro-choice Americans agree

Woman 4: That abortion should happen only during the first three months of pregnancy.

Woman 5: At most.

Woman 6: At most.

Woman 1: That’s consensus.

Woman 3: That’s consensus.

Woman 4: But it’s not the law?!

Woman 1: Why?

Woman 6: Why?

Woman 2: Pro-choice politicians.

Woman 4: Politicians.

Woman 3: Many of them want abortion legal right up until birth.

Woman 4: Right up until birth.

Woman 1: Only about 1 out of 10 Americans support this extreme position. [Graphics]

Woman 3: And these pro-choice politicians listen to them, not us.

Woman 5: Not us.

Woman 4: Not us.

Woman 6: Now they want us to pay for abortion.

Woman 2: OUR tax dollars.

Woman 1: Almost 2/3rds of us say NO. [Graphics]

Woman 4: No way.

Woman 3: It’s time for this extremism to end.

Woman 1: It’s time for OUR voices to be heard.

Woman 2: It’s time for politicians to stop working for the pro-abortion lobby.

Woman 5: And join the national consensus. [End Board]

Official Launch of March for Life Action

Posted on September 20, 2016 by Jeanne Mancini

I have some really big news to share with you.

I am excited to announce the official launch of March for Life Action!

mfl-action

March for Life Action is a certified 501(c)4 entity, which will operate as a sister organization to our 501(c)3, March for Life Education and Defense Fund. The difference between the two organizations is that March for Life Action will allow YOUR VOICE — in combination with the collective voices of the millions of pro-life Americans — to advocate for specific pro-life policies at the federal and state level.

I am deeply convinced that March for Life Action is needed for such a time as this. Our country is truly facing a divisive crossroad on issues related to life and the inherent dignity of the unborn.

While a culture of life has advanced legislatively in many states over the past few years, the June Supreme Court decision striking down Texas’ common-sense safety regulations for abortion centers endangers not only women’s health but also pro-life advances and laws across the country.

Then in late July, the Democrat National Committee introduced the most radical pro-abortion platform ever, advocating for abortion, on demand, at any time during pregnancy, paid for by your tax dollars.

The Democratic candidate and other pro-abortion advocates have even called for a repeal of the long-standing bipartisan Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer dollars from paying for abortion through Medicaid.

While March for Life Action is non-partisan like its sister organization, the sad reality is that the Democratic Candidate and Democratic Platform are extreme and out of touch with mainstream America.

>>>> ICYMI, check out my op-ed in the Daily Caller on the Democrat Party’s Radical New Abortion Stance.

Here’s where March for Life Action comes in.

We have a very exciting project to share with you later this week, but we are asking that you would help us first by following March for Life Action on social media and asking your friends to do so also.

We are grateful for this new opportunity to expand our cultural influence more directly into the policy arena. And we are really excited to amplify YOUR voice on the most pressing issue of our time, the inherent dignity and goodness of life, not only as we march up Constitution Avenue every January, but moreover, every day of the year.
