Washington, D.C. – The March for Life announced today that Kellyanne Conway, President of the polling company, inc./WomanTrend, and highest-ranking woman in President-elect Trump’s administration, will speak at the 43rd annual March for Life, the world’s largest annual pro-life demonstration, in Washington, D.C. on January 27th, 2017.

Conway will join other notable speakers including Archbishop of New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan, former Planned Parenthood Director and founder of ‘And Then There Were None’ Abby Johnson, Mexican Telenovela star Karyme Lozano, author and radio host Eric Metaxas, Bishop Vincent Matthews of the Church of God in Christ, who advocates for adoption in the African-American community, and more at the March for Life rally on the National Mall on January 27th, 2017.

“We are thrilled to have Kellyanne Conway speak at this year’s March for Life. As the first female to run a successful presidential campaign and as a steadfast advocate for life and family issues, Kellyanne beautifully embodies the 2017 March for Life’s theme, ‘The Power of One’,” says Jeanne Mancini, President of March for Life.

“Our other speakers also personify ‘The Power of One’ theme and show how one person has the power to change the world and saves lives,” Mancini concluded. “It is our hope that this year’s March for Life will encourage each of us to seek and fulfill our unique mission to the best of our ability because only in doing so we will collectively build a culture of life in the U.S. — a culture where abortion is unthinkable.”

Tens of thousands of Americans are set to travel from across the nation to D.C. for this year’s March for Life, which seeks to promote the dignity of every human life and to stand against the greatest human rights violation of our time – abortion-on-demand. More speakers and guests to be announced soon.

The 43rd Annual March for Life
January 27th, 2017
MFL Rally – starts at 11:45am ET
March for Life – starts around 1:00pm ET (directly after the Rally concludes)

Pro-Life Priorities in the New Congress

Posted on January 9, 2017 by Tom McClusky

During the election season, abortion was one of the top two most searched topics on Google. Americans were very interested in what the candidates were saying about abortion. Ultimately, the most pro-abortion presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, lost resoundingly.

>>>> Read Jeanne Mancini’s op-ed, Abortion lobby lost big this election — life is a winning issue.

While the elections are now over, our most important work as pro-life advocates is now beginning.

Last week, the 115th Congress was sworn in. The new Congress presents the pro-life movement with many opportunities to pass pro-life legislation and advance a culture of life.

Our pro-life priorities for 2017 include:

  • No Taxpayer Funding of Abortion Act, codifying the Hyde amendment and federal funding of abortion.
  • Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, restricting abortion after 5 months of pregnancy, at which point babies can feel pain.
  • Legislation defunding Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.
  • Ensuring that legislation that replaces Obamacare is pro-life with strong conscience protections.
  • Confirming judges that will uphold the U.S. Constitution.

>>>> See March for Life Action’s announcement on a comprehensive pro-life congressional scorecard.

Already, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan has indicated the legislation defunding Planned Parenthood will be a priority.

That is great news!

Planned Parenthood is our nation’s largest abortion provider, aborting over 320,000 babies every year. Plus, the organization has been caught trafficking aborted babies’ hearts, lungs, livers and brains.

Americans shouldn’t be forced to fund Planned Parenthood, to the tune of half a billion tax dollars each year. That federal funding should be redirected to trusted health providers, not given to the abortion industry.

>>>> Check out GetYourCare.org.

Abortion advocates have indicated they will be putting up a fight to protect Planned Parenthood funding. Just yesterday, we were bombarded with scores of nasty messages after tweeting out the following:

Now more than ever, pro-life Americans must speak up. Not only through social media, but it is imperative that our Congressman and Senators hear directly from us that defunding Planned Parenthood and protecting unborn lives is a priority for the new Congress and new Administration.

America has a pro-life consensus, and we must urge our lawmakers to be bold on life!

2016: What a Year!

Posted on December 30, 2016 by Bethany Goodman

There is something unique about our work here at the March for Life.

We want to work ourselves out of a job, so that one day we do not need to march on Washington to call for equal rights for unborn children.

Our vision is a world in which every human life is valued and protected.

Until that day comes, we are working relentlessly to impact our culture of life as much as possible.

Here are a few things we accomplished in 2016:

Media Engagement:

Throughout 2016, March for Life staff were frequent and influential commentators on cultural and political pro-life news, participating in over 200 media interviews, ranging from top cable network prime-time shows to local radio programs.

Leading mainstream interviews of the years included Jeanne Mancini on NBC Nightly News, in Cosmopolitan, on BBC, and on Hardball with Chris Matthews. Additionally, March for Life staff published 16 opinion editorials on pro-life issues throughout the year.

Social Media:

In 2016, the March for Life’s social media was a vital part of the educational and advocacy efforts of the organization. On Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, the March for Life’s content was viewed over 40 million times.

Additionally, during the month of January, the March for Life brought together a vast social media coalition effort, resulting in over 170 million views of #marchforlife and #whywemarch social media posts across Twitter and Instagram.

March for Life Action:

While working effectively behind the scenes for years, March for Life Action, a 501c4 and sister organization to the 501c3 March for Life Education and Defense Fund, publicly launched in September with an educational commercial, “Consensus,” that was viewed over 900,000 times on YouTube, and over 1.6 million times on TV, during September and October.

Additionally, March for Life Action was an integral part of platform development during the political party conventions; and developed a pro-life scorecard for the presidential election.

We are grateful for each and every opportunity to be a voice for life, whether that is in the news, on social media, or in the halls of Congress.

We could not do this without YOU!

2016 is drawing to a close, and the New Year is upon us. Together, we can gain new ground in 2017 building a culture of life and saving lives.

Why the 27th?

Posted on November 28, 2016 by Bethany Goodman

The 2017 March for Life will be held on Friday, January 27th.

The Presidential Inauguration, will be held on Friday, January 20th. As in previous Inauguration years, the National Park Service (NPS) assigned the next day possible for the March for Life. We work very closely with the NPS to ensure that we have safety precautions and facility requirements met.

While advocating for the most precious cause of life is the goal of the March for Life, the safety of all participants is of utmost concern, and we are grateful for the cooperation and assistance of the NPS, Capitol Police, Metro Police, Supreme Court Police, etc.

We are not familiar with the permit status of any other events around the Inauguration or the March for Life.
